As one of the world’s leading diversified manufacturing companies, CSR Limited (CSR) has operations across Australia, Asia and New Zealand.
CSR was incorporated as a public company in 1887. The company was founded in Sydney in 1855 as a sugar refiner, expanding into sugar milling in 1870, and began manufacturing building materials in 1936.
CSR Group Property, a division of CSR, is focused on maximising returns from the sale of industrial sites at the end of their productive life by advancing the sites through various stages of the development cycle. Typically this involves obtaining site rezoning and regulatory approvals, as well as managing land rehabilitation and construction of supporting infrastructure.
CSR Group Property is currently involved in six large scale developments in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria. Typically these projects are infill developments in prime metropolitan areas such as the following:
Woodcroft
residential development, NSW
•
A former CSR clay pipe manufacturing site was rezoned residential in 2003
and CSR contracted with Mirvac to develop 250 residential lots and 150 townhouses.
•
Sales have been strong and the project is anticipated to be completed by
2007/08.
Ferntree Gully residential development, VIC
•
A former CSR quarry has been redeveloped into a 75 lot residential estate,
named ‘Peregrine Estate’, with its identification directly acknowledging
its unique position at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges National Park.
•
Located 35kms north-east of Melbourne, this development is emblematic of
the collaborative approach CSR takes with the local planning authorities,
in this case, Knox City Council and the community groups to ensure that
development takes into account the needs of the government, environment and
residents.
Erskine Park Industrial Estate, NSW
• This CSR property boasts 100ha in Western Sydney, currently being developed
as an industrial estate to meet the needs of businesses.
• CSR sold 17ha of this site to Bluescope Steel in 2004.
• The development approval for a 78,000m2 project was secured in 2004.
• This development allows CSR to demonstrate that it is well positioned
to supply fully serviced industrial facilities to an owner or occupier as required.
